Kids Reading Bench

***Scroll for UPDATES! 10/29

Meghan appeared on Brightly Storytime today – whose tagline is "Raise Kids Who Love to Read" – reading her children's book The Bench, of which she says, "I wrote this as a poem for my husband and our son, Archie, and then turned it into a book so you could enjoy it, too."

This is the first time we've seen Meghan since her visit to New York City one month ago.

For the appearance, she sits outside on a wooden chair, her hair pulled back and wearing what appears to be a light blue button down shirt and jeans. On her wrist are her go-to Cartier 'Love' and Jennifer Meyer bezel tennis bracelets and Princess Diana's gold Cartier Tank watch; she also wears a gold necklace. You can hear birds chirping as she speaks in the lush outdoor setting.

Brightly Storytime believes that "reading has the power to illuminate kids' lives and connect families by facilitating a space in which children and the adults in their lives can spend quality time together."

Brightly Storytime shared this about the Duchess' appearance —

We're thrilled to welcome Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex, in this special episode of  Brightly Storytime! Follow along as she reads fromThe Bench, a poetic story that beautifully captures the extraordinary relationship between father and son, as seen through a loving mother's eyes."

More from Brightly Storytime's about —

Brightly provides passionate parents, educators, and caregivers with the tools they need — such as tips and advice, book recommendations, Brightly Storytime, which features read-aloud and flip along videos, and more — to keep kids connected to books through every age & stage of life. We take pride in working with a diverse group of contributors, authors, and partners who cover a wide range of topics for readers of all ages in order to cultivate a love of books and reading in children.

After reading the book, the Duchess says —

Now I hope you're able to go and find your own special bench, or chair, or a little quiet nook – just a place that means something to you that you can share with someone you love."

Meghan also shares that the illustrator of the book, Christian Robinson, created the book's images with watercolors by her request.

Take a look at the short clip below.

A quick look at what Meghan wore in the video.

The Duchess wore a blue button-up cotton shirt and light washed denim jeans, neither of which have been identified. We will update the post once if we should find a possible match for either piece.

One possibility for her shirt is this one from Anine Bing, a brand she's worn previous. It is the Mika Shirt in light blue, $179. The shirt is also available at Revolve here and Net-A-Porter here.

The Duchess also had on a cognac brown belt with a gold buckle. We can just make out some writing on the left side of the buckle.

UPDATE 10/28: Our best guess so far is that the belt could be from Loro Piana although we haven't found an exact match. We're still continuing to look at other styles and brands.

She wore her go-to Cartier 'Love' bracelet, Jennifer Meyer 18k gold bezel tennis bracelet ($3000), Princess Diana's gold Tank watch and Lorraine Schwartz pinky ring — all pieces we've seen her wear a number of times now.

Her necklace is one we have not seen before. The necklace appears to be a gold, long oval or octagon shape. If we are able to get a better look at the necklace we will share any further information here. Unfortunately these are the two best images we were able to grab.

One thought is that the necklace shape looks similar to the Kendra Scott – 'Elisa' pendant in 18k gold vermeil, $148. The pendant can be personalized with up to eight letters – example, below right.

A portion of the the Kendra Scott's proceeds is donated to various causes supporting women and children. Additionally the company supports local communities and donates their time and resources to various important causes. Read more about it here.

We have been unable to clearly see which earrings she is wearing in the video (see image, below, left). We're thinking they could either be her Lorraine Schwartz emerald cut diamond earrings (shown below, center, on Meghan in May 2021 and June 2019).
